Spring Sports Recap

The following district-wide information has been gathered through research and the schools submitted responses. If there is anything missing or that needs editing, please contact support@nasathletics.com. Thank you for your help!

Track and Field

Parkland finished strong in the 4A NCHSAA Women’s Track & Field Championships coming in second with 55 points.  Parkland earned a pair of first place finishes in the 4×100 and 4×200 Meter Relays. Sophomore Promise Davis and seniors Ai’yana Gray-Williams, Ziyah Etchison, and Oteria Dubose won the 4×100 and Megan Hatcher joined the first-place 4×200 team.   
A Farm Bureau Sportsmanship Award was presented to Parkland’s Ai’Yana Gary-Williams.

Parkland‘s Men’s team also finished strong in 5th place, fueled by two Top-2 relay finishes.  Jaylin Bacote, Antwan Hughes Jr, Micah Walker, Xavier Covington,  and  Justin Powell combined to take second in both the 4X100 and 4X200 relays.  Hughes also had a notable 2nd place finish in the 100M.

In the 1A Championship, Carver‘s Men’s team came in third with 40 points, fueled by two first-place finishes in relays. Winning gold in the 4×100 was 1) Shannon Johnson II, 2) Derrick Reid Jr, 3) Chase Ivy, and 4) James Harris.  The 1st place team for the 4X200M was 1) Reashard Norwood, 2) James Harris, 3) Derrick Reid Jr, and 4) Chase Ivy.

Women's Lacrosse

The NCHSAA 4A Women’s Lacrosse Tournament had several teams represent WSFCS. 
RJ Reynolds outscored Cuthbertson 20-9 and advanced to the 3
rd Round where they met eventual semi-finalists Myers Park.   
East Forsyth shut out Asheville in the 1st Round 13-0 advancing the the 2nd Round where they fell to eventual championship contender Charlotte Catholic. 
After a 1
st Round bye, West Forsyth took out Hough in the 2nd Round 18-8 before meeting a common fate by Charlotte Catholic in the 3rd Round. 
Reagan qualified for the tournament, coming up one goal short in a close match versus Ardrey Kell in the 1st Round, 13-12. 

In the 1A/2A/3A Women’s Lacrosse Tournament, Atkins qualified, earning a 1st Round bye, before meeting Lake Norman Charter in the 2nd Round. 

Men's Lacrosse

Lacrosse State Championships

WSFCS was well represented In the NCHSAA 4A Men’s Lacrosse State Tournament with four teams qualifying to compete.
WSFCS’ RJ Reyolds went the deepest into the playoffs advancing to the quarterfinals after winning against East Forsyth 9-8 and Weddington 11-7.  Reynolds fell to eventual state champion contenders Charlotte Catholic with a score of 13-6 in the 4
th Round.

East Forsyth, Reagan, and West Forsyth all made 2nd Round appearances.  

In the 3A Division, Atkins made a second round appearance versus St Stephens after a first round bye.

West Forsyth Men's Lacrosse

West Forsyth had their first playoff win in program history in a 19-12 victory over Grimsley.  The Titans met eventual semi-finalists Lake Norman in the 2nd Round.   

Impressive stats from the Titans season include:

Season Points- Brody Macdonald- 68 pts
Season Saves- Matthew Barghout- 156 svs
Season Take Aways- Bryson Miller- 31 TAs

Congratulations to West Forsyth college commits Tyler Grandinetti- Pfeiffer and Trent Burns- Limestone!

More congrats to West Forsyth alumni Charles Miller (Class of 2022) winning the Conference Championship at Barton College!

Baseball

In the 4A NCHSAA Baseball Tournament, Reagan advanced to the 4th Round, beating South Meck 1-0, Ardrey Kell 8-2 and David 7-1, before falling short by one run to Northwest Guilford. 

East Forsyth and West Forsyth also represented WSFCS in the tournament winning their 1st Round games.

In the 3A Division, Atkins earned a 1st Round game playing West Henderson.

Softball

In the 4A NCHSAA Softball Tournament, WSFCS was well represented:  
East Forsyth advanced with wins over Reagan and Weddington before meeting Northwest Guilford in the 3rd Round. 
West Forsyth earned a 1st Round game playing Weddington.

Walkertown also qualified for the 2A Division playing West Davidson in the 1st Round.

Men's Tennis

At the 3A Men’s Tennis Dual Team State Tournament, Atkins advanced to the quarterfinals before meeting #1 seed and eventual champion Hickory.  Atkins prevailed over Rockingham 8-1 in the 1st Round and took down Frankin 5-4 in the 2nd Round.

Women's Soccer

Several women’s soccer teams represented WSFCS in the NCHSAA 4A Women’s Soccer Tournament.  West Forsyth won their 1st Round game versus Piedmont 6-1 before meeting South Meck in the 2nd Round.  East Forsyth, Mount Tabor, and Reagan all earned 1st Round games.

In the 3A Division, Atkins shut out West Rowan 7-0 in the first round before meeting East Lincoln in the 2nd Round.
